2-alarm fire engulfs 2-story wood framed building in Weare, owner escapes flames

WEARE — The Weare Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire at 363 Mount Dearborn Road at about 1 a.m. on Sunday.

A two-story wood framed building was heavily engulfed by flames when firefighters arrived.

The owner, who had been sleeping, became aware of the fire and escaped the home prior to the fire department's arrival, according to officials.

The entire building suffered fire and smoke damaged and all the contents were destroyed.

Firefighters from several surrounding communities fought the fire with water that had to be transported via tanker trucks from a nearby pond.

The Red Cross was on scene to provide assistance to the owner. No civilians or fire personnel were injured.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
