2-alarm fire causes heavy damage to Belmont home, 3 people suffer minor injuries


BELMONT - A house at 110 Elaine Drive was severely damaged by fire, and three people who tried to put out the fire before firefighters arrived received minor injuries.

Firefighters say heavy black smoke was reported from the second story. Belmont and Laconia firefighters responded and requested a second alarm, bringing out firefighters from Gilford, Tilton-Northfield, Sanbornton, Gilmanton, Barnstead and Franklin.

The fire was extinguished and the people with injuries were treated at the scene.

The house sustained severe damage, mainly to the second floor. Firefighters say the estimated damage is over $100,000. No information was immediately available about the cause of the fire.
