150 grams of heroin seized, 3 arrested after investigation by Salem police, DEA

SALEM - Three Massachusetts men were arrested on heroin charges after a police and United States Drug Enforcement Agency investigation on Tuesday.

The suspects were found in a Target parking lot, and one of them tried to flee through the store while the other two tried to destroy the drugs.

Eventually, all three were arrested.

The arrests

-Wilfredo Laboy, 31 of Methuen, Mass., was charged with sale of a controlled drug and released to the custody of the DEA.

-Luis Ascona Hernandez, 46 of Lawrence, Mass., was charged with possession of a controlled drug (heroin) and falsifying physical evidence. He was released on $5,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on March 28.

-Francisco Castillo, 37 of Lawrence, Mass., was charged with sale of a controlled drug, and transporting drugs in a motor vehicle. He was released on $3,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on March 28.

In total, 15 “fingers” of heroin - about 150 grams - were seized. The approximate street value of the heroin is $4,500.
