15 baggies of marijuana found in backpack during Manchester traffic stop

MANCHESTER - Police found 15 baggies of marijuana in the backpack of a passenger at a vehicle stop.

When a police officer pulled over a car without headlights Tuesday, he noticed a passenger in the back duck out of sight for a moment as he walked up to the car.

A strong owner of burning marijuana came from the car.

The passenger who briefly hid was Danny Jaquez, 23, of Manchester. The carpet beneath him was pulled up, but there were no drugs hidden underneath. Police said a black backpack contained the marijuana was next to Jaquez.

There was also a small scale commonly used to weight drugs for sale.

Jaquez was arrested on charges of having a controlled drug, and intent to distribute. The drivers said they were giving the man a ride.

Jaquez will appear in court on Wednesday.
