KEENE - Police say they smashed a major fountainhead of heroin in Keene after months of investigation lead to 14 arrests.
In all, more than 5.5 kilograms of heroin, 14 ounces of cocaine, approximately 90 Oxycodone tablets, approximately $11,000 cash, and 14 firearms were seized.
Tabitha Reason is a Keene resident who police say had 60 to 70 grams of heroin, and planned to sell it.
Reason's arrest on June 23 is the most recent in a series related to a drug network running between Lawrence, Mass., and Keene.
Keene police teamed up with state police and the N.H. Attorney General's Drug Task Force, as well as criminal and citizen informants in this case.
A major player in the network was Ross M. Gould, who police said planned to distribute the heroin, prescription pills and marijuana found at his Richmond residence along with about $11,000 cash, and fourteen guns.
Gould admitted to storing drugs at another Richmond location where police found 1,500 grams of heroin, 14 ounces of cocaine, and about 90 Oxycodone tablets. Gould was arrested on March 16, and is imprisoned in the Merrimack County House of Corrections.
Police said Gould was a leader and organizer for people such as husband and wife Jamie and Jaclyn Hilow, who police described as couriers for Gould. The Hillows were arrested charged with dealing drugs along with Sean Campbell, Desmond Davis and Jason Daigle. Campbell and Davis are out on bail. The Hilows and Daigle are in the Cheshire County House of Corrections.
Daigle is also accused of conspiring with Brandon Rivers of Keene to sell heroin to a customer who they did not know was cooperating with the drug task force.
Rivers is awaiting federal prosecution while on bail after being arrested on March 18.
Police discovered a connection between Gould and other Keene drug dealers, and a supply source in Lawrence through investigation from an earlier arrest.
Jonathan Cruz-Marte, of Lawrence, was arrested on March 12 and is charged with possessing and intending to distribute heroin after police found him with 2,000 grams of the drug at a mall in Salem.
Cruz-Marte is awaiting federal prosecution in the Strafford County House of Corrections.
The arrest of Felix Portes, also from Lawrence, was related to Cruz-Marte's criminal behavior, police said.
Pedro Pena, another Lawrence man, was arrested when he sold 200 grams of heroin to someone who was working with the drug task force.
But law enforcement didn't let up.
Further investigation revealed a second major heroin and cocaine supply for Keene, which led to more arrests.
A man from Marlborough was stopped in his car by police in April. Ryan Thomas Williams was found to have a 500 grams of heroin in his car. More importantly, officers said, they learned he was traveling between Keene and Lawrence.
This helped law enforcement officials draw a connection to the Cruz-Marte and Portes distribution network.
The investigation continued in May, when officers arrested Martin Cruz-Lawrence and Jose Cabrera were both arrested for having 1,000 grams of heroin each in Keene.
Both did not pay bail and are being held in the Essex County Jail.
Police believe this ring is responsible in large part for the 199 heroin related calls emergency services have received in Keene since 2013.
Police used Narcan to save 109 of those people. 17 of them also died, however.
The case is still under investigation.
Anyone who has further information is encouraged to call the Keene Police Department at 603-357-9820.
