120,000 popular playground items recalled across country

CONCORD - Playgrounds all over the country will most likely be affected by a major recall of plastic trapeze rings.

Rainbow Play Systems, which is responsible for selling thousands of plastic playground rings, is recalling the products due to a fall hazard.

According to PR NewsWire, the yellow trapeze rings, usually on play sets, pose a threat to children because they can unexpectedly crack or break.

More than 120,000 pairs of rings in the U.S. will need to be replaced and about 11,000 sets are shipped by the manufacturer Nylacarb to Canada and Mexico.

The recall comes after more than 100 reports if rings cracking or breaking led to injuries consistent with bruises, lacerations, concussions and a broken finger.

The yellow plastic rings with a triangular shape are the only items that are recalled.
