10th annual Peter Makris Memorial Run to benefit late Hampton Firefighter
LACONIA — The 10th annual Peter Makris Memorial Run will be held on Saturday where they will be celebrating a "decade of Fun and FUND-raising."
The proceeds will go to Veterans Count, emergency response teams and Firefighter, Kyle Jameson.
Ten years ago, when hundreds of motorcycle riders gathered to honor the life of Peter Makris, patriarch of the NASWA Resort and community leader, it began a ripple effect of benefits for the community.
This year, there was a pressing need in the state to help a firefighter, and that need was brought to the Makris family by Laconia Fire Chief, Ken Erickson.
That firefighter was Kyle Jameson who was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Jameson died on May 15 but the Makris family wanted to continue to raise money for his wife, Christine, and their new son, Liam.
The 10th run will feature a few changes. There will be a new route, a new lunch menu and a new band.
The run will begin at the NASWA Resort, 1086 Weirs Boulevard.
