1 dead after fiery crash engulfs vehicle in flames, closes Interstate 89 in Enfield

ENFIELD - A person is dead after a fiery crash that closed Interstate 89 in Enfield.

Police and fire officials responded to I-89 near Exit 16 in Enfield after reports of a crash and a vehicle on fire.

Witnesses and troopers said that attempts to to get to the driver were unsuccessful because the vehicle was engulfed in flames.

After the fire was extinguished, the driver was found dead.

I-89 was closed for 45 minutes while crews were on the scene.

No further details on the driver are being released pending notification of family members.
