1,700 FairPoint workers head back to work Wednesday
FairPoint workers head back to work after a four-month strike.
More than 1,700 workers returned to their jobs Wednesday in New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont.
The new agreed upon terms allow current employees to keep their defined benefit pensions but contributions will be reduced.
Workers will also contribute to health care costs for the first time but at a lower rate than proposed by the company. Finally, stipends will be offered to new retirees in lieu of health insurance.
